Rawalpindi: (Parliament Times) The Food Department has slapped a fine of Rs96,000 and sealed at least three hotels for selling sub-standard food items in different areas at Rawalpindi Cantonment .

The Food Department conducted raids and inspection of the hotels located in Rawalpindi cantonment and sent 31 samples of food items to Laboratories for checking. The Food department had imposed a fine of Rs96,000 and sealed three hotels in Qasim Market area Geo Hotel, Bismillah Hotel and Peshawar Zalmi Hotel for serving sub-standard food items.

The samples of food items were taken from various hotels, Milk shops, and Karyana Stores.

The Food department has said that action would be taken against hotels, shop owners if the samples of food are found to be sub-standard.
