QUETTA: In order to effectively respond to dangerous situations, a two-day ‘First-aid Training for Journalists’ organized by Media and Communication department of Pakistan Red Crescent Society concluded at a local hotel here in the provincial capital. A large number of journalists from different parts of Balochistan including Quetta, Zhob, Dalbandin, Chagi, Chaman, Duki, Harnai and Pishin, attended the training, where they were trained during the session.

Media and Communication Officer PCRS Naseebullah Malik in his welcome remarks gave a briefed introduction of Red Cross and Red Crescent and highlighted the role of PRCS and ICRC.

“PRCS has been serving by providing emergency and disaster relief besides rehabilitation, healthcare and other facilities since its establishment in every nook and corner of the country”, adding the organization works closely with the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC), International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) and Red Crescent Societies.

The first-aid trainer Bushra Nadeem imparted essential knowledge and life-saving techniques including Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), bleeding control, choking, chest compression, air resuscitation, fractures, shock, joint and bone injuries, bandages, snake bite, burns injury, poisoning, heart attack, angina and injured transportation in a wake of emergency during the training session. The techniques were also practiced by the participants.

Secretary PRCS Balochistan chapter Muhammad Ayoub also spoke the closing ceremony as the chief guest and said that first-aid training was basically a skill and knowledge.

“The first-aid training is important for every individual and family besides journalists particularly for those working in conflict zones,” he said. He congratulated the journalists on attending a successful training and gave away certificates to the participants of training.
