Islamabad, (Parliament Times) : The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomes the decision taken by the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to recognize the State of Palestine and considers it a significant step, consistent with International law, which will in turn contribute to all international efforts towards ending the Israeli colonial occupation and achieving peace and stability in the region.

It also welcomes the statement issued by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago announcing its decision, in which it stresses the importance of recognizing the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, to live in their independent state in freedom and security, rightfully emphasizing that this is the only way to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the region.

The Ministry once again calls on all states that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to take this decision as soon as possible, as a step towards ending the injustice to which the Palestinian people have been suffering, and to acknowledge their legitimate and inalienable rights, first and foremost their right to self-determination in their independent and sovereign state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
