Islamabad, (Parliament Times) : In implementation of the directives of President Mahmoud Abbas and the instructions of the Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Muhammad Mustafa, to gain more recognition for the State of Palestine, a Palestinian delegation including Ambassador Linda Sobh, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Caribbean countries, and Ambassador Imad Al-Zuhairi, Director General of the Palestinian International Cooperation Agency, made an official tour in several Caribbean Basin countries.
The delegation began its first stop in the Republic of Guyana with a meeting with President Irfaan Ali, who affirmed his country’s continued support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and their absolute support for all initiatives of the State of Palestine on the international scene, including the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state and its full membership in the United Nations, stressing the He and his government will continue to coordinate with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the international community to push for a ceasefire and ensure immediate and urgent relief efforts in the occupied territories of the State of Palestine, especially in the occupied Gaza Strip, and to work with the countries that have not yet recognized the Caribbean countries to ensure that their recognition is obtained as soon as possible.
In this context, the State of Palestine signed with the Cooperative Republic of Guyana yesterday 4 bilateral agreements to strengthen the general cooperation framework, health, agriculture, and the political consultation agreement.
The Palestinian delegation held important meetings with Prime Minister Mark Phillips, where they were informed of the latest developments on the ground and the genocide to which our people are exposed. The Prime Minister affirmed his country’s absolute support for Palestine and its just cause. The delegation met with Parliament Speaker Manzour Nader and briefed him on the genocide Palestine is going through, committed by Israel, the occupying power.
The delegation also met with the Minister of Natural Resources and representatives of the Islamic community. They visited the schools it supervises and met with a large number of student representatives at Guyanese universities. The delegation also met with representatives of the private sector and businessmen to encourage cooperation with their Palestinian counterparts.
In its second stop, the Palestinian delegation will head to Barbados to meet with Prime Minister Mia Mottley, whose country recognized the State of Palestine a few days ago, to express thanks to the President, the Prime Minister, and the Palestinian people for their country for the recognition step that came at an important time and which will be built upon to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
The delegation concludes its tour in Granada to hold official meetings there.
