ZHOB: Glowing tributes were paid during a condolence reference on the occasion of 8th death anniversary of ex-minister and founder of Jamiat Tulaba Islam Abdul Khaliq Bashardost here on Tuesday.

“Bashardost was a great sympathizer, who devoted his entire life for the sake of Islam”, said Dr. Abdul Razzaq Kakar, Habibullah Bhutto Afghan and Qari Saadullah Jan in a condolence reference held here at a religious seminary to pay rich tribute to Bashardost. His close companions including Allah Dad, Qaisar Shah and Muhammad Hanif attended the memorial event in a large number.

Highlighting various aspects of Bashardost’s life they eulogized his political and social services and termed his death an irreparable loss.

Recalling his services they said that Bashardost fought so bravely and his efforts will be remembered for a long time, as he raised voice for the neglected and oppressed segments of the society.

“Bashardost’s life is a role-model for us. Although he was a great leader yet he was equally humble and compassionate to people,” adding Bashardost had always stood by principles of politics. We would continue the mission of Bashardost. They pledged.

It is to be mentioned that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam leader, former minister Abdul Khaliq Bashardost was born in Aug 1957 in Killi Yaqoobzai. He started his political career from student life. He contested the 2008 general elections on the ticket of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Ideological) for the Balochistan Assembly’s constituency PB-18 seat and joined the provincial cabinet as Local Government minister. In April 2009 he suffered serious injuries in a road accident, when he was en-route to his home town Zhob in Nasei area on Quetta highway. The accident left him parlayed and confined to a wheelchair for several years. In Oct 2012 he died of cardiac arrest. In a message, former president Asif Zardari and premier Raja Parvez Ashraf had expressed deep grief and sorrow over his sad demise and conveyed their heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family.
