ZHOB: Zahida Baloch – Member Monitoring Unit Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund has said that clean drinking water and basic sanitation services are the fundamental human rights. In order to improve health and education services in far-off areas, SHAD has initiated a pilot project financed by PPAF in far-flung Sambaza union council.
She was speaking at an event held in Killi Hazrat Saab, union council Sambaza to provide drinking water tank and water supply scheme to the government high school and civil dispensary and to switch a water filtration plan to solar energy in remote area of the district.
President SHAAD Qazi Tahir Naeem, SDO Public Health department Muhammad Nawaz, Education Officer Gul Rehman Mandokhail, school headmaster Haji Latif Mandokhail, Painda Gul Mandokhail, Mehmood-ul-Haq, notables and community members were also present on the occasion.
She said it is an initiative that would be expanded to adjoining areas too. Women empowerment is also one of the PPAF priorities.
“It is a pilot project that is envisioned to change living standard and improve the socio-economic conditions of less-privileged communities,” she added.
Qazi Tahir Naeem on the occasion said that SHAD has left no stone unturned to mitigate the grievances of those living in remote areas of Balochistan.
“Keeping in mind the dire need, the provision of safe drinking water has been ensured at school and health facility that will help in reducing water borne diseases,” he said.
PPAF was asked to make function all the dysfunctional water filtration plants in the city and switch them to solar power. So the people could benefit from the plants.
Education officer Gul Rehman Mandokhail while speaking said that majority of the government-run schools in the district lacking clean drinking water and electricity.
Tribal leader Pirzada Amir-ul-Haq expressed hope that the newly-inaugurated facilities will overcome water shortage and help in the reduction of waterborne disease in the area. He thanked PPAF and SHAD for their contribution.
