Rawalpindi, (Parliament Times) : Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Aamir Khattak while presiding over the meeting held regarding the security of PSL cricket matches at Cricket Stadium Rawalpindi said that our city will hist 09 matches. It will start from March 02, 2024 and will continue till 10th March 2024. Out of them 03 will be day and 06 night matches. He said that along with the security arrangements of the matches, other arrangements should also be made perfect so that the international players can witness the hospitality and peacefulness of the Pakistanis. These people will be helpful in highlighting our positive image around the globe. It is also the social responsibility of people to fully cooperate with the law enforcement agencies for this national interest and to maintain law and order.
DC Hasan Waqar Cheema, Additional Deputy Commissioner, SSP Operation, DGPHA Ahmed Hasan Ranjha, Additional Deputy Commissioner Finance and Planning Ramisha Javed and heads of other concerned departments participated in this meeting.
Engineer Aamir Khattak directed that no compromise should be made in the arrangements of PSL. He said that the food street adjacent to the cricket stadium has been closed since February 28 and will be reopened on March 11. He further said that the patch work around the double road and the cricket stadium has been completed and all the street lights on the routes have been mDe functional. While giving a briefing about final arrangements on this occasion, Commissioner Rwp was apprised that the foolproof security arrangements have been ensured. 5500 security personnel will perform their duty during the matches. Apart from this, walk-through gates, CCTV camera, establishment of Nadra verification counter at the entry gate and elimination of encroachment from the route have been ensured. In the briefing, it was further informed that a control room has been set up in Shahbaz Sharif Sports Gymnasium to monitor all the arrangements. Car parking will at the open area of Rawal Park and Satellite Town College to ensure smooth flow of traffic. Spectators will be provided with shuttle service from the parking areas to the entrance of the cricket ground. During the match, bomb disposal squad from civil defense will be present in the stadium. IESCO will ensure uninterrupted power supply during the match. Also, first aid ambulance and fire brigade vehicles will be present at the stadium. 100 officials of RWMC will perform their duty to clean the cricket stadium.
