Gwadur: The Irrigation Department is playing a leading role in controlling water scarcity in Balochistan. In this regard, small and large dams are being constructed in different areas of Balochistan, most of which have reached completion and the people are benefiting from them. The construction of these dams is being done with the joint efforts of the federal government and the provincial government of Balochistan. The construction of these dams will not only increase the underground water level but also boost the agriculture, livestock, and dairy sectors. There will be a reduction in unemployment to some extent. Senior officers of the Irrigation Department of Balochistan have been appointed for the construction of these dams in different areas of Baluchistan. Among them, one of the engineers Mir Ghulam Qadir is also there.
Engineer Mir Ghulam Qadir Rand has served as the Project Director of the well-known Shadi Kor Dam and Bisol Dam, while he is serving as the Project Director of the largest water project in North Balochistan, Tui Warbatuzai Dam in Gwadar. This dam was built when there was a severe shortage of water in Gwadar. People did not have a drop of water. To complete this dam, Engineer Mir Ghulam Qadir Rand and his team worked hard under the patronage of Engineer Mir Ghulam Qadir Rand. Most of its area consists of rainfed areas. Balochistan province consists of 18 basins and 73 sub-basins. From which 95000 million acre-feet of flood water is received annually. To store this flood water, Balochistan Irrigation Department is constructing dams in different areas of Balochistan under various projects. Under the grand project of water storage in Qila Saifullah and Northern Balochistan, the construction of the Tui Warbatuzai Dam project is in the final stages of completion. This project will be operational to benefit the people. The feasibility of this dam was done in 2007. It was also approved by the technical team of Pakistan Engineer Council. The consultants for the dam are renowned Pakistani company Associated Consulting Engineers (ECA) .
This dam is being constructed with the cooperation of the Federal and the Government of Balochistan. The catchment area of ??this dam is 1980 square kilometers. The length of the dam is 590 meters and the height is 57 meters. This dam is the largest in Balochistan in terms of height. A spillway has been constructed to drain excess water from the dam. From which 84 thousand cusecs of water will be released. During the construction of the dam, a tunnel has been constructed for the alternative discharge of flood water. It has a diameter of five minutes and a length of 300 meters. From which 80 cubic meters of water will be released through the pipe. The water storage capacity in the dam is 95 thousand acre-feet and it will be able to irrigate 16750 acres of land. While the dam can irrigate another 25 thousand acres of land. Which will bring an agricultural revolution in the region. An agricultural market would also be established by establishing a farm-to-market road. This will also create employment opportunities and it will become the best market in Pakistan.
Engineer Mir Ghulam Qadir Rand said that the work on the Tui Warbatuzai Dam is going on at lightning speed, which is now in the completion stages, but still, the people of Qila Saifullah and the surrounding areas are benefiting from this dam. , Pomegranate, Apricot, Cherries, Almonds, and other fruits are being cultivated in addition to Elves, Onions, Tomatoes, and other crops. Wheat is being cultivated which is supplied with water from Tui Warbatozai Dam. Apart from this, water is being provided to the people for other domestic purposes as well. Engineer Mir Ghulam Qadir Rand said that the Tui Warbatuzai Dam will boost the agriculture, livestock breeding, and breeding sectors in North Balochistan.
