Among other lunar months, Ramzan is considered a blessed month for all Muslims. Holy Quran was first revealed in this holy month to our Beloved Nabi e Kareem ?. Fasting is mentioned in Holy Quran and is one of the five basic pillars of Islam. Fasting abstains us from all foods and drinks from dawn to sunset. Holy Prophet Muhammad ? said When Ramadan enters, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hellfire are closed, and the devils are chained. It reminds us real purpose of life, we may say it is a drill to control our desires, which are unlawful and sins in eyes of our Lord. It gives us the strength not to use our sense organs for prohibited acts. Fasting teaches us many lessons and gives us a golden chance to seek the blessing from Allah Kareem. Holy Prophet ? has said, “It (Ramadan) is the month whose beginning is mercy, middle, forgiveness and its end emancipation from the fire. Ramadan teaches us to practice self-discipline, self-control, sacrifice, and empathy for those who are less fortunate, thus encouraging actions of generosity and compulsory charity (zakat). Ramzan spreads messages of love, brotherhood, and humanity. May Almighty Allah bless us.
