AREEBA ALTAF KANASRO

I was listening to the speech by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah. He shared the statistics of total judges in Pakistan: 4000 and 1000 of them aren’t appointed; according to him, there are 13 judges per million people, and the normal range of judges in other countries is 90 judges per million. If we follow this rule, Pakistan needs 21000, and daily, 70000 cases are registered in session, in district courts, and 3000 to the Supreme Court. As per his statistics, 24 lakh cases are under prosecution. According to him, an arbitration center is going to launch in Islamabad per million people, and the normal range of judges in other countries is 90 judges per million. If we follow this rule, Pakistan requires 21000 judges, and daily, 70000 cases are registered in session and district court and 4000 to the Superior Courts, and 2.4 million cases are pending. He urged to install ADR system in Pakistan and mediation centers in all district of Pakistan And the lack of excess in the commercial court is almost equal to nil in Pakistan. Gender representation is the biggest issue. Why are most women not appointed as judges? Only 562 (16%) women judges in Pakistan; of those, 2 judges are appointed to the Supreme Court. The lack of female representation in the judiciary is a big loss for the Pakistani judiciary and justice system. Their perspective on looking after the issues is different, and their perspectives are important, so gender representation is very crucial for our country. the pending cases require judges, and we don’t have judges. Is this the way, we will develop our country’s just system? In this we will move on? In this way we progress, The shortage of judges is a serious concern for Pakistan’s legal system. If we have to progress, then the government should have to introduce more professional judges to make the legal process more just and equitable.
