Rawalpindi,  (Parliament Times) : National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser has said that the more our youth are in the global job market, the more we will be able to achieve economic growth and save the country from expensive interest bearing loans from IMF and World Bank. It will also help in eradicating poverty and unemployment from the country.

He was speaking as chief guest at a special ceremony held here on Thursday in a local hotel under the auspices of Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment, Government of Pakistan for the appreciation and awarding of shields to the best performers of Overseas Employment Promoters (OEPs). Advisor to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Muhammad Ayub Afridi,Federal Secretary of the Ministry Ishrat Ali, Director General of Immigration and Overseas Employment Mr. Waseem Barak Ullah, Chief Executive Officer of Knight Human Management (KHM) Shalaan GL Pakistan Mr. Khalid Nawaz and a large number of OEPs were present on the occasion.

Asad Qaiser said that the government is striving very hard to double the overseas jobs for our youth. “The role of Overseas Employment Promoters is crucial in making the government’s efforts fruitful in this regard”, he added, saying more that without their support, the target set by the government of sending one million people abroad for jobs annually cannot be achieved. He asked the promoters to find more paying international jobs for our youth with an aim to reduce poverty and unemployment from the country.

Advisor to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Muhammad Ayub Afridi has said that poverty reduction through various practical steps including generation of employment opportunities for the youth in and abroad is the top most priority of our government. Overseas Employment Promoters are our active partners as they are doing their best to search and place our youth on decent jobs in the international job market.

Muhammad Ayub Afridi applauded the role of OEPs in reduction of poverty and promoting employment opportunities. He said the remittances from overseas Pakistani workers are constantly increasing and swelling our foreign reserves. “Rapid economic growth and employment generation have also accompanied higher households’ income and reduction in poverty”, he added.

Afridi also announced to issue licenses to overseas employment promoters within ten days and said that he will request the Prime Minister to appoint Labour Welfare Attaches in Pakistani embassies in Gulf, Europe and other countries for resolving the problems of our overseas workers. The government will issue easy loans for the candidates of overseas jobs to easily meet the expenses.

Asad Qaiser and Muhammad Ayub Afridi gave shields of excellence to the promoters who sent a large number of young people abroad for employment while maintaining transparency. KHM Shalan & GL Pakistan from Rawalpindi Region was awarded first prize which was received by Khalid Nawaz.

Asad Qaiser also urged the promoters to train the youth in line with the global job market and to make good pay agreements with foreign companies for skilled and unskilled people and ensure full protection of workers’ rights in addition to job security.
