ISLAMABAD:     Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has said national wealth cannot be enhanced without providing incentives to the industries.

“ The motorways built in earlier eras did no benefit to the country. This motorway is the first motorway which will save the travelling of 100 kilometer, he said this while addressing ground performing ceremony of Sialkot-Kharian motorway here Thursday.

He went on to say Sialkot-Kharian motorway is an important project. Country needs industries and development of the country remains slow paced without industries.

We have to facilitate small and medium enterprises , he remarked. Funds are utilized for construction of roads, schools and other development projects, he added. But there can be no increase in national wealth without providing facilities to the industries.

He was appreciative of the idea of involving the private sector in the motorway project saying this will help the government divert resources to other areas. He was confident that more private capital will flow into the road infrastructure projects in future.
He underlined that the Swat motorway has opened the whole area for tourism. He said Pakistan has immense potential for tourism but it was not developed in the past. He said projects such as second phase of Swat motorway and Dir Motorway will help encourage both domestic and foreign tourism at the picturesque places.

He pointed out that as many as 27 lac vehicles traveled through Swat motorway during Eid days. We will have to think how can we generate revenue through motorways.
He declared that we can set up industries at large scale in this area and motorway should have been built on this route.
He underscored that small and medium enterprises serve as back bone. But we saw that there were myriads of difficulties for them. We will remove the hurdles whatever come on the way to the industries. The difficulties facing the public-private sector will be removed, he announced.
