LAHORE:   The Ulema of all schools of thought across Punjab after meeting with Punjab Governor, Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, announced to launch an awareness campaign ‘’Mask lagana hy, Khud ko Corona sy bachana hy.’’ The Ulema also assured Governor Punjab of full implementation of Corona SOPs during Ramadan. Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that the government does not want to close mosques during Ramadan but negligence in compliance with Corona SOPs will not be tolerated. “We all have to defeat Corona together,” he added.

According to the details, Chairman of Royat-e-Halal Committee Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, Mufti Ashiq Hussain, Pir Syed Habib-ul-Haman Irfani, Mufti Iqbal Chishti, Maulana Shakeel-ul-Haman Nasir, Prof Syed Mahmood Ghaznavi and Allama Muhammad were present on the occasion. Assad-ur-Rehman, Maulana Muhammad Amir and others were also present. During the meeting, they discussed various issues including compliance with Coronavirus SOPs during Ramadan prayers, Friday prayers and Travih prayers. All the Ulema assured that the SOPs issued by the Federal and Punjab Governments regarding mosques will be strictly implemented to ensure their protection from Coronavirus, and a campaign named ‘’Mask lagana hai Khud ko Corona sy bachana hy’’ will also be launched.

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that Ulema should also be vaccinated against Corona, adding that if we all follow Corona SOPs, we will surely succeed in defeating Corona once again. He said that the Punjab government does not want to close mosques, but steps are needed to prevent corona spike and the ulema should play their role in implementing SOPs. Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that the war against Corona is now the war of 220 million Pakistanis and “I pay tribute to all the Ulema who have started this awareness campaign to ensure the protection of the masses from Coronaviru, ” he added.

Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, Chairman, Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, said that the Ulema of all schools of thought have ensured the implementation of Corona SOPs in the last Ramadan, and there will be no negligence in compliance with Corona SOPs in this Ramadan too. Later, more than 15 Ulema of Punjab, and Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, also participated in a video conference chaired by President Dr Arif Alvi and discussed the plan of action to curb the third Coronavirus wave in the country.
