ISLAMABAD,   (Parliament Times)  :  Capital Development Authority (CDA) began taking action against illegal sewerage connections and direct opening of sewerage lines in natural nullahs here on Monday. In the first phase notices and challans have been handed over to the owners. Illegal sewerage lines will be removed later on. The work on cleaning of 30 trunk sewerage lines is also underway.
According to detail, the department of City Sewerage of CDA has started the process of challans and notices against the illegal sewerage connections for the betterment of sewerage system in the city. In the first phase the work has been started on repairing and restoration of city sewerage trunk line. In this regard, the work on 30 trunk lines out of total 42 in I-9 has been started. In this phase, the trunk lines were repaired from 8 different points to make the direction of water towards STPI. Repairing and restoration of other main lines is also underway. 10-12 million gallons of sewerage water will start being purified in next 03 months through STPI. This purified water will be used for gardening. More quantity of water will be shifted forward when further lines would be restored. This process will also help in controlling the smell of sewerage nullahs. Work of cleaning and repairing of all the trunk sewerage lines will be completed in six months and they all will be linked with the main system.
Strict action is being taken against illegal sewerage connections.
