Islamabad:  (Parliament Times)    Lt. Gen. Nigar Johar, Surgeon General of Pakistan Army has voiced his serious concern over the gradual increase in the incidence of heart disease and related deaths in children and adolescents.

He made these assertions while speaking at a seminar held on “World Heart Day”. The seminar was attended by Executive Director (AFIC) Maj. Gen. Farhan Tayyab and a large number of senior officers of the Pakistan Army, family members, Panah seekers, medical experts and civil society representatives.

“Pakistan is our home, its protection is our duty, development of the country is not possible without an educated and healthy society”, he said adding that Tobacco, sweets and greasy products that were being used in daily life were the main cause of these diseases.

“Every minute and a half, a person loses his life due to heart disease”, he said.

Executive Director (AFIC) Major General Farhan Tayyab said, “that today’s program is very important in terms of its nature. The mortality rate from infectious diseases such as hypertension, diabetes was very low, the situation gradually changed over time, simple foods were replaced by poultry foods, fresh flower juice was replaced by artificial drinks, walking or cycling Users began using motorcycles and cars, and playgrounds in educational institutions and streets disappeared, replaced by TV and the Internet”.

“As fast as man has progressed, he has neglected his health at the same rate, heart disease commonly known as heart attack or heart attack, it has become epidemic in the present”, he added.

President Panah Major General (retd) Masood-ur-Rehman Kayani said that heart diseases have become the leading cause of death in Pakistan, which continues to rise to alarming levels, according to a report by the World Health Organization (WHO). On an average, 1,100 people, at least 46 people every hour, while one person dies from a heart attack every minute and a half. The first symptom of the disease in more than 50% of patients is a heart attack. According to an analysis, 50% of heart attack patients are between the ages of 45 and 50. The Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH) has raised awareness about the causes of heart attack.

General Secretary Sanaullah Ghumman said that one of the major causes of heart disease is smoking, consumption of sugary and fatty products, according to former Vice Chancellor Khyber Medical University, Peshawar and cardiologist Prof Muhammad Hafeezullah. Is the leading cause of heart disease and death in India. By controlling smoking and other forms of tobacco, deaths from heart attacks in Pakistan can be reduced by up to 30%. Regular use of cigarettes and sugary drinks reduces physical age. Therefore, we should make maximum use of natural foods, vegetables, fruits, meat, eggs, milk and fresh water, so that we can avoid life-threatening diseases, value life, and a healthy society can only be built by healthy people. On this occasion, the participants appealed to the government to formulate an effective strategy to prevent the causes of heart disease.
