Moharamm is first month in Islamic calendar. we celebrate Moharamm because Hazrat Imam Hussain a.s sacrificed his every thing in the way of Allah in karbala to protect Islam. Every year, the martyrdom of Imam Hussain A.S and his companions is told by ulemas in majalis to commemorate the greatest sacrifice of Islam. The grand son of prophet pbuh stood boldly against unislamic values, conducts and norms. He accepted no offer but preffered death over acceptance ( bayaat) of yazid the cruel, tyrant and grestest foe of islam. The days of muhram are known as ashura and it is said that the
army of yazid was around 9 lacs to fight just 72 members of Imam Hussain a.s. Among them were children and women too. The cruel army of yazid murdered every one including 6 months baby boy named Ali asghar. The son of Hazrat Imam Hussain a.s Ali Akber and his nephew M. Qasim who was butured under the feet of horses. The arms of step brother of Imam Hussain a.s Abbas were chopped and cut off at the river furat when he went to bring water for the thirsty children . It is said that Abbas was bravest soldier in the army of Imam Hussain a.s who could single handedly fought all the army of yazid but he followed the orders of Imam Hussain a.s and did not fight. Later , he was murdered
mercilessly. The only man who survived in the event of karbala was Imam Zainal abdeen, the eldest son of Imam Hussain A.S. The teachings of karbala are based on humanity , oneness and suremacy of Allah , the belief in the prophethood of Muhammad pbuh. They sacrificed their everything to save islam . Its believed that islam took rebirth after this event . Prophet pbuh once said that Hussain was from him and He was from Hussain. (Hussain mini wa ana minal Hussain ).
