Rawalpindi: (Parliament Times) The two-day inter school sports and athletic competition organized under the auspices of Anjuman Faizul Islam Rawalpindi at its Welfare Center G. T Road Mandra with separate days for boys and girls concluded here last afternoon. The events on both days included impressive PT show, review past and a number of races, long jumps, tug of war and display of regional dances which won a great applause from the spectators. The president of the Anjuman, Mian Siddique Akbar who gave away the prizes to the winning athletes and teams at the concision of boy’s sports day said in his address that co-curricular activities, particularly the games contribute to harmonious development of physical, mental and emotional faculties of the students and enable them to join the society as moderate and humane citizens.
The main purpose of the games, he added, was to inculcate sportsman spirit in the youth which provides basis for promotion of healthy competition, accommodation and tolerance in the society.
The day devoted to the sports and athletic competition for girls schools was more colourful and better organized. The girl athletes impressed the spectators with enthusiastic participation in various sports events and won spontaneous appreciation and encouragement from their respective supporters. The vice president of Anjuman Faizul Islam Mrs. Izhar Fatima while thanking the guests, organizers and participating institutions at conclusion of the events appreciated the general behaviour and discipline of the participants
and added that as usual the girls athletes have excelled the boys in this field also. She congratulated their parents and teachers for providing them with due guidance in this respect. Mrs. Sobia Sultan Choudhary, Director Sports Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Rawalpindi, who was the chief guest at the occasion congratulated both the winners and loosers before distributing the prizes and praised the management of Anjuman Faizul Islam for helping the students become useful citizens, practicing muslims and patriotic Pakistanis by providing the facilities of moral oriented education and co-circular activities in a congenial atmospheres.
