Islamabad:    (Parliament Times)    Director General, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Mr. Husnain
Ahmad, has said that each individual will have to pass through process of self-
accountability to curb corruption in every sphere of life. Pakistan is bestowed with
abundance of resources. Misuse of these resources, bribery and such practices are
major hindrances in way of making Pakistan Corruption Free State, while addressing a
seminar on “corruption curbs economic growth” jointly held by OGDCL and NAB at
OGDCL Headquarters here today. Mr. Husnain Ahmed also termed increasing
population one of major causes of slow economic growth. To this effect, he recalled
endeavors being undertaken by the NAB for elimination of corruption through
awareness campaigns and enforcement of relevant laws.
MD/CEO OGDCL Dr. Nasim Ahmad addressing on the occasion said that we have
gathered here to express our resolve in making Pakistan a corruption free society by
joining hands with NAB in its endeavors. Dr. Nasim Ahmad said that OGDCL is the only
public sector company which is listed at the London Stock Exchange which is reflective
of confidence of foreign investors in the company’s businesses and operations.
Dr. Nasim Ahmed also said that OGDCL is fully aware of its role in the anti-money
laundering initiatives and as a matter of policy does not entertain bids from companies
incorporated in different off shore jurisdictions known for tax evasion and money
laundering
He further expressed that certain initiatives have been introduced in the Company and
its practices to establish that OGDCL is a natural ally of NAB in making Pakistan a fair
and transparent society. MD further told that we have gathered here to discuss the
theme that “Corruption erodes trust in hard work.” A society where such feelings are
evident is under a serious threat unless measures are taken to re-build confidence and
promote good governance. He acknowledged that NAB is playing its role to restore
confidence of the masses in the system and single out those who enrich themselves
through corrupt practices or misuse of office. At the end MD/CEO OGDCL Dr. Nasim
Ahmad appreciated the endeavors taken by NAB to curb corrupt practices in the
society. The seminar was concluded with exchange of souvenirs from both the sides.
