The inaugurated project aims at to build capacity of prosecutors  of  in Balochistan

MIRPUR [AJK]:     United Nations Development Program – the UNDP supported establishment of a law library, through its Strengthening Rule of Law Programme, for the office of Prosecutor General in Quetta Balochistan, it was officially said.

The library was inaugurated today by Dr. Umer Khan Babar, Secretary Prosecution Department, Balochistan and Mr. Kaiser Ishaque, Assistant Resident Representative, Democratic Governance Unit, UNDP, an official statement issued on Monday said.

Establishment of the law library is part of the implementation of Rule of Law Roadmap Balochistan, which helps prosecutors in preparation of their cases, researching on contemporary legal issues and building their overall capacity to deliver timely, efficient and quality justice services

The inauguration was attended by Mr. Zulfiqar Durrani, UNDP Provincial Representative Balochistan, Mr. Naimat Ullah Khan, Prosecutor General Balochistan, Mr. Nasrullah Khan Deputy Prosecutor General Balochistan and other senior prosecutors and UNDP representatives.

On behalf of Government of Balochistan, Secretary Prosecution thanked UNDP for taking steps to improve capacity of the Prosecution Service in Balochistan.

Mr. Kaiser Ishaque said that UNDP is committed to strengthen rule of law and justice institutions in Balochistan and will work continue working together with the Provincial Government and Rule of Law institutions to delivery speedy, inexpensive and quality justice services to the people of Balochistan. UNDP’s Quetta office has remained engaged with the programme’s stakeholders in the province, particularly women and marginalized communities, to deliver easy and swift justice to the people.
