MIRPUR (AJK):   Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan on Monday visited earthquake-hit Mirpur city of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and assessed the ongoing relief and rehabilitation activities conducted by the AJK government with the coordination of the government of Pakistan to bring the life back to normal.

He visited Mirpur Divisional Headquarter Hospital to inquired about the well being of those injured in the earthquake that left at least 40 people dead besides injuring of about 900 people in the earthquake of moderate magnitude of 5.8 at the Richter scale at about 4.02 pm on September 24 – that shaken Mirpur city and adjoining areas rendering hundreds of thousands of the people in Mirpur sub division badly affected – mostly shelter less besides causing loss to the private and public property worth billions of rupees.

The Prime Minister went round the male and female wards in the hopsital and inquired about the well being of the victims of the catastrophe, lying under treatment in the hospital and expressed sympathies besides assuring best of the assistance and cooperation by the government for their early rehabilitation. He directed AJK authorities for delivery of best possible Medicare for the early recovery of injured.

Imran Khan was accompanied by the AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan, foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Kashmir Affairs minister Ali Amin Gandapur, PTI AJK Chapter President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, AJK minister for health Dr. Najeeb Naqi and other senior officials of the AJK Government.

AJK Health minister Dr. Najeeb Naqi, DG Health AJK Dr. Sardar Aftab Ahmed, Senior State Health Department officials including Chief Executive and Medical Superintendent of DHQ Hospital Dr. Fida Noor, DHO Dr. Fida Hussain, PMA President Dr. Raja Ijaz Ahmed and other senior officials apprised the Prime Minister of the medical facilities being provided to the earthquake-hit patients lying in the state of the art latest hospital block.

The Prime Minister Imran Khan also attended a presentation at the Quaid-e-Azam International Sports Stadium held by the National Disaster Management Authority and the AJK government. With the helps of charts and maps, he was briefed of the relief and rescue operations conducted by the governments of Pakistan and AJK in the affected areas. He was also apprised of the huge material loss caused to thousands of private and public buildings in Mirpur city and adjoining badly affected thickly-populated areas of Khari Shareef, Jatlan areas besides dozens of the villages.

Earlier, the Prime Minister of Pakistan was received at the helipad by the AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan, AJK Health Minister Dr. Najeeb Naqi and senior officials of AJK government and Mirpur Division Administration including Div. Commissioner Muhammad Tayyeb, DIG Police Mirpur Div Sardar Gulfraz Khan, SSP Raja Irfan Saleem, DC Tahir Mumtaz Raja, Additional Secretary AJK Govt. Masood ur Rehman SPs including Raja Azhar Iqbal and Raja Akmal Khan, Senior MDA Official Mirza Kaleem Jiraal and others.

The Prime Minister later flew back to Islamabad this afternoon. Ends
