MIRPUR (AJK): Various parts of Azad Jammu & Kashmir including the state’s Mirpur were jolted as the earthquake of moderate mag was experienced on Tuesday afternoon.

Mirpur and several other parts of the liberated territory including Mirpur, Bhimbher were shocked following the earthquake of moderate intensity at 4.00 pm Tuesday afternoon. Initial tremors lasted for over a minute. Tremors were continuing intermittently till filing of this report at 4.46 pm.

Experts confirmed Magnitude recalculated from 6.0 to 5.9. with
Depth: 10.0 km,
Epicenter latitude / longitude: 33.04°N / 73.8°E (Pakistan), Nearest volcano: Dacht-i-Navar (555 km) and Primary data source: GFZ.
Estimated released energy: 4.5*10^13 J (12.4 GWh / 10676 tons of TNT / 0.7 atomic bombs equivalent.

The quake was recorded at 5.9 at the rector scale and its epicenter was Jhelum area located at the borders of Afghanistan and Pakistan .

There are immediate reports of damaging of hundreds of buildings in Mirpur city and outskirts. Kachi abadies also badly affected. Detao’s are awaited.
