MIRPUR ( AJK),  (Parliament Times)  : Istanbul-based Kashmir freedom struggle leader from IIOJK living in exile Dr. Mubeen Shah emphasised on Tuesday that Kashmir issue must have been taken up in all its manifestations and our submissions regarding what needs to be done by OIC_OCI as a follow up to its resolution in the Islamabad summit.

In a statement reaching and released to the media here on Tuesday Dr. Shah said “I feel except for lip service there has been no progress in what they intended to do and for which resolution was passed in March 2022”.

“A Joint Communique was issued by the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir (Islamabad, 22 March 2022) & subsequently from time to time”, he said.

The Kashmiri leader underlined that the communique among other things contained the action plan of which following points need to be pointed out out :

a) In their bilateral engagements with India, raise the Jammu and Kashmir dispute to advance a peaceful resolution in accordance with UNSC resolutions – (Kashmiri Right to Self Determination) which is the foremost human right violation which India is doing in IIOJK and all other human right violations are because of the denial of this one

b) Conduct visits at the level of Permanent Representatives to obtain firsthand information about the situation in the disputed Jammu and Kashmir state.

c) Constitute a panel of international eminent personalities with a view to exploring legal, political and diplomatic avenues for peaceful settlement of Jammu and Kashmir dispute;

d) Monitor, raise awareness, advocate and highligh our submission to above :

Dr. Mubeen Shah further emphatically said “all the above may not have the result we desire so, there is a need of following in respect to what we want from the OIC” :

1.The foreign office of Pakistan needs to send to few selected heads of the governments to sensitize them on the issue of Kashmir, i.e., Malaysia, Indonesia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia . It is important to highlight India’s settler-colonial project currently underway in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu Kashmir, along with the draconian UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act), as well as the PSA (Public Safety Act) which are designed to silence the political and civil society leaders

2.Until and unless we go to the core of it i.e. in the imposition of economic sanctions which is what America and Europe is putting on Russia without any unanimous resolution of the UN while as in our case there is a clear cut resolution not being implemented for the last 75 years.

Referring to the double standard of certain super powers and global forums, Dr Mubeen Shah said “our (Kashmir’s) freedom fighters struggleling for liberation of the motherland from Indian yoke, are called terrorists while people are encouraged to go to Ukraine to fight Russia and are called freedom fighters”.

He called for delivery of relief to Kashmiris who are in the OIC countries in the form of safeguarding them from any action by India if they do activism for Kashmir.

The possibility of giving relief in form of citizenship or permanent residency to Kashmiris who are in need of the same due to Indian highhandedness, he suggested

He also called for giving jobs for Kashmiris in their economies by giving a special dispensation to people from IIoJK.

To give funds for providing scholarships to deserving students in various fields within their country as well as European and American university, Dr. Shah urged

He suggested grant of permission to Kashmiris to educate the people of these countries regarding the Kashmir issue in the right perspective – by facilitating the setting up of a Kashmir Centre or similar type of facility which will promote the struggle for right to self-determination besides showcasing culture, arts and crafts of Kashmiris.

He underlined that India was on a major propaganda offensive to convince the world that its brutal occupation and repression in Kashmir are part of the epic battle against “Muslim terrorism” — an epic battle that is completely manufactured to justify war, occupation, genocide.

“We need to fight this in all its manifestations” Dr. Shah concluded.
