MIRPUR ( AJK),  (Parliament Times) : The High Court of  Azad Jammu Kashmir on Tuesday directed Azad Government of the State of Jammu & Kashmir to exercise legislation about imposition of taxes on electricity bills of the power consumers within next 15 days period and inform this court accordingly.
“Otherwise this learned AJK High Court would pass the orders on it”, the Court order added.

Our Special Jammu and Kashmir state Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao reports that the learned two-member AJK High Court comprising Chief Justice Sadaqat Hussain Raja and Justice Muhammad Ijaz Khan issued these orders to the AJK government on an under-trial writ petition challenging imposition of various types of taxes imposed on the electricity bills of all kinds by Azad Jammu and Kashmir Government, during proceeding held in the state metropolis on Tuesday.

Imtiaz Raja Advocate, Raja Amjad Ali Khan Advocate, Haroon Riaz Mughal Advocate and Nasir Masood Advocate appeared on behalf of the petitioners in the case titled “District Bar Association Mirpur President Imtiaz Raja Advocate (Time) and Faisal Manzoor President Mirpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Time).

Advocate General AJK and Principal Secretary to AJK Prime Minister appeared on the court on behalf of the AJK Government.

The learned High court of AJK also directed the AJK government to respond it’s stance within 15 days over an identical writ petition filed by Imtiaz Raja Advocate about inordinate delay in construction of much-prolonged Rathuaa-Haryam Bridge over Mangla Lake in Mirpur and the payment of compensatory funds to additional families of Mangla Dam effectees.
