JKLF writes UN SG about its forthcoming LoC march,

Islamabad:     (Parliament Times)     Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front on Friday presented a detailed memorandum to UNMOGIP officials in Islamabad about the prevailing political and humanitarian situation in Indian held territory of Jammu and Kashmir and its forthcoming plan of holding a peaceful solidarity march from AJK’s Bhimber district to Srinagar via Chakothi-Muzaffarabad crossing point on 4th October.

The communique addressed to UN Secretary General Mr Antonio Guterres stated that the Kashmiris living in Azad Kashmir and elsewhere in the world cannot afford to watch the silent death of their brethren in Indian occupied Kashmir by Chauvinist Hindu regime of India led by Naredra Modi.

The memo stated that Kashmiris have been reeling under relentless curfew and communication blockade for more than a month since the Modi’s fascist regime in India abrogated the article 370, which had guaranteed special status to Jammu and Kashmir”.

Highlighting the impending humanitarian crisis in the region the JKLF in its memorandum said, “To express solidarity with fellow Kashmiris, we have decided to cross the Ceasefire Line-CfL on 4th October 2019 to extend our moral, political and material support like medicines and other essentials to besieged masses in IoK”.

“Since 5th August thousands of innocent civilians (more than 6000) mostly young boys have been taken away by Indian forces during their nocturnal raids. Women have been molested and raped, while some reports speak of young girls having been abducted, while many have sustained life threatening injuries. Hundreds of political leaders who opposed the illegal decision have been rounded up and put in jails”, the memorandum said adding that while Kashmir continues to reel under a serious humanitarian crisis in the wake of the August 5 abrogation of article 370, it seems another sinister potion is brewing in the Hindutva cauldron of India, to be served at an appropriate time to the collective conscience of the bloodthirsty electorate.

“Kashmiris in AJK-GB and in the Diaspora however will not remain silent bystanders to watch the unprecedented suffering of their defenceless, abandoned and forsaken compatriots. It is therefore right and proper for Kashmiris to converge on the Ceasefire Line at Chakothi, and cross the LoC that has forcibly separated the Kashmiri nation for seventy two years”, the memorandum said adding that the enforced dividing line has separated mothers from their sons and sisters from brothers. “As Kashmiris we do not recognise the CfL. It is a bloody line enforced on the heart of our country and on the body of our nation without the expressed democratic consent of the people of Jammu Kashmir”.

The memo further stated that “India holds on to Jammu Kashmir with its military might and brazen denial of the internationally recognised sovereign right of Kashmiris to self-determination. It has deployed well over one million military forces, which includes the deployment of around 180,000 troops since February of this year alone. 5th August therefore, will be etched in the memory of people in Jammu Kashmir as a black day, and a catastrophe or a day of Nakba across both sides of the CfL”.

Regarding the abrogation article 370 and 35-A it said, “The unilateral decision of the BJP/ RSS nexus, disdainfully and contemptuously defied the international community and disregarded at least a dozen UN resolutions, and completely dishonored the 1972 Shimla Accord with Pakistan”.

Referring to the UN resolutions 122 of 24 January 1957, 123 of 21 February 1957, and 126 of 2 Dec 1957, the memo said that as per these resolution no party to the dispute can unilaterally change the disputed nature of Jammu Kashmir.
