MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan has strongly condemned the use of brute force by Indian Occupation army and police against civilians in Islamabad, Shopian and other parts of Occupied Kashmir.
“Indian authorities must immediately halt this violent offensive and respect the human rights of the Kashmiri people, including their freedom of expression and right to peaceful assembly,” the President said in a statement issued from Muzaffarabad on Sunday.
He said that police and para-military forces have used barbaric force against the peaceful demonstrators in Islamabad, Shopian and Tral areas of the occupied territory to suppress the voices of freedom.
Expressing his deep concern over the situation in IOK in the wake of Pulwama incident, Khan demanded a strong notice by the international human rights organizations against the grave violation of Kashmiri peoples’ rights.
The Indian occupation forces in their fresh act of state-sponsored terrorism martyred two Kashmiri youth in Shopian district on Sunday during a cordon and search operation in Satipora area of the district. The forces also used unwarranted force against peaceful demonstrators protesting against the gruesome killings.
Saying that sacrifices being rendered by people for Kashmir cause will not go waste, AJK President said India cannot silence the voices of Kashmiris through the military might.
Sardar Masood Khan also demanded the removal of the hurdles erected around the Srinagar’s historical Central Mosque by Indian forces to prevent the faithful from offering Friday and routine prayers in the mosque. “Denying Muslim devotees to enter into the places of their worship is serious violation their religious rights,” President asserted.
The president also paid tributes to the womenfolk of occupied Jammu and Kashmir for sacrificing the lives and honour for the liberation of their motherland from foreign occupation. He regretted that today when most parts of the world are celebrating Mother’s Day, thousands of Kashmiri women continue to wait for the return of their sons subjected to disappearance in custody Indian troops in occupied Kashmir
