MIRPUR (AJK): Federal minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit / Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur said here on Sunday that the government was taking every possible steps for the promotion of national and regional cultural heritage with healthy activities in all the four provinces of the country besides Azad Jammu Kashmir and Gilgit / Baltistan.

He was speaking as chief guest at the concluding ceremony of the 3-day Summer Tourism festival at Lehri in outskirt of Mirpur city.

The ceremony was attended among others by Commissioner Mirpur Division Muhamamd Tayyeb, DIG Police Mirpur range Sardar Gulfraz Khan, Divisional Head AJK Press Information Department Muhamamd Javeid Malik, President AJK Supreme Court Bar Association Raja Inam Ullah Khan Advocate and other officials of the local administration.

Praising the holding of grand festival and horse and cattle show at the scenic site of Lehri at the meeting point of AJK and adjoining Punjab province, the minister said that the enthusiastic participation of the horse-riders from all four provinces of the country besides AJK and Gilgit / Baltistan in the Javelin-throw contests at the picturesque site of Lehri were self-explanatory of the great enthusiasm of the masses in participating in such cultural events.

Gandapur said that annu,al summer festival and horse-n-cattle show at Lehri was proving to be the strong source of promoting the ancient culture of entire Jammu & Kashmir in general and the AJK in particular.

Felicitating the winners for their outstanding performance in the festival, the federal Kashmir Affairs and GB minister said that such events not only help in to promote the healthy activities, but also emerge as the symbol of national unity and harmony among all the four provinces of Pakistan besides AJK and Gilgit / Baltistan.

Gandapur observed that in this latest hustle bustle era of latest technology, the people were getting away of their culture and heritage. He said that such festival were proved to be the strong source of encouraging and promoting the national and regional cultural heritage of Pakistan and Jammu & Kashmir.

Ali Amin Gandapur, earlier, participated in the Javelin-throw contest along with the D G Khan Javelin Club. He was enthusiastically responded with clapping by huge gathering of thousands of the jubilant people watching the keenly-contested horse riding, javelin-throw and other events.
