Says those engaged in smear campaign against others will be taken to task,

MUZAFFARABAD:    (Parliament Times)      The chief justice of Azad Kashmir Ch. Ibrahim Zia said bar and bench are part and parcel to each other.

Addressing a dinner in honour of the judges of SC, HC, service tribunal, lower courts and bar councils held by President Central Bar Association Muzaffarabad Raja Aftab Ahmed Khan on the other day he said a common man and prime minister are equal in the eyes of the judiciary. He claimed that the performance of Supreme Court was better than the past seventy years. He said time is gone when judiciary was brought under pressure. He said what powers constitution had given to us we are trying to exercise those powers to dispense with justice to all.

He criticized the elements who he said were engaged on social media to malign others and added that Supreme Court had issued directives to check such elements. A high level meeting had been constituted in this regard. Necessary action under the rules in the light of the recommendations of committee would be taken against those who disseminate baseless and unfounded news on social media, he stated.

He said he came to know that a reference was filed against him. Such news was in the air for the past one year and finally the cat came out of the bag. Welcoming the reference, he said it would now be clear that whether the charges were correct or baseless. However, he said the charges against him were all baseless and show malafide intention against him. He said the judgement should be brought under discussion and not the judges.
