Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) Youth Parliament AJK, GB & ISB chapter held a breakout session, “Conference of Youth on Climate Change” at University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Muzaffarabad. The session was the part of Youth Parliament Pakistan’s 2nd Conference of Youth (COY2) on climate change. Renowned Scientist & Fellow Center of International Strategic Studies Dr. Syed Javaid Khurshid, addressed the audience about different activities of the masses that result into global warming and climate change. He urged on production of energy by environment friendly methods. He further added, “Government should take solid steps to reduce pollution of all kinds and new laws should be formulated to control such activities either by individuals or by companies that leads to climate change. Dr. Hamayun Shaheen, Focal Person for Climate Change, University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, in his address focused on the role of youth to reduce global warming and discussed the steps to be taken immediately to control climate change. Director Students’ Affairs University of AJ & K, Mr. Amir Farooq, blessed the occasion with his presence. Senior member Youth Parliament Ch Murad briefed the audience about environmental hazards caused due to Neelum Jhelum Hydro Power Project. “Government should revisit the NJHP as it is threat to lives of half million of people” , said Murad.

Federal President Youth Parliament, Ubaid Qureshi, breif review about Sustainable Development & COP21, He gave a quick recap of activities of Youth Parliament Pakistan in order to control climate change. “ We are launching Tree Plantation campaign all across Azad Jammu and Kashmir” told Ashfaq Younas Mir, president Youth Parliament AJK , GB and Islamabad Chapter. Akash Kazmi and Ummara Tariq served as stage secretaries for the session. Federal Deputy General Secretary, Bilal Masood, President Muzaffarabad cabinet, Umer Asif , Muhammad Umer Maqbool, Majid Majeed, Shafqat , Nabeel , Jahanzeb Amir , Fida ur Rehman , Syed Usama Ali Kazmi , Parsa Ehsan , Momna, Nawaz Dar, Sadaqat Dar and other Youth Parliamentarians from University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir played their part to make the session on success
