Islamabad, (Parliament Times) : The President of Think Tank Institute of Peace and Development, and former Adviser of Human rights Dr. Sardar Muhammad Tahir Tabassum has condemned the cases against senior journalists by the government of Azad Kashmir and bans on the state media, terming it as the government’s cowardice against the media. They have demanded immediate withdrawal of cases against journalists. In a statement, Sardar Tahir Tabassum has said that the alleged FIR against Islamabad-based senior Kashmiri journalists Aamer Mehboob, Khwaja Kashif Mir, Raja Kafeel Khan, and Shehzad Rathore and retaliation against two journalists from Muzaffarabad, Waqas Kazmi, and Raja Khalid. The movement is a very regrettable move. He has advised the government to be vigilant. Such actions against journalism, the main force of the state, are a source of laughter. Attempting to suppress it is tantamount to inciting the journalist community, the result of which will be a loss to the Prime Minister and the government. Sardar Tahir Tabassum has said that if the cases against the journalists are withdrawn immediately and unconditionally, such actions and threats are against the law and cause disrepute to the government of Azad Kashmir. These matters should be taken seriously and the concerns of journalists should be addressed.
