MIRPUR [AJK]: A seminary of girl students as well as 5 residential buildings sank  as a result of heavy land sliding in adjoining village Khaliqabad following torrential rains Thursday night, police said.

New City Police Station chief told this Correspondent here on Friday that the incident took place at about 10.00 pm Thursday after the building of Muhi-ud-din Seminary, housing 13 students and two teacher,  as well as five other adjoining buildings of residential houses at Mohajir colony dislocated and sank all of sudden due to land sliding causing  huge panic in the area.

The sank buildings also dislocated by over ten feet from their exact location due to the terrible land sliding, the police officer said.

No loss of life was reported as the dwellers of the affected buildings immediately rushed out of the affected buildings during the course of sinking in safety of their lives.

Rescue teams immediately rushed the scene of occurrence and facilitated the affectees for safe evacuation.

The Police officer further said that over a dozen residential houses including five of the above sank houses have been got vacated from the inmates and shifted to safer places to avert any threat of loss of life and property due to impending continuation of the land sliding.

Mirpur and adjoining area remained in the grip of heaviest rainfall of the season during last 48 hours constantly causing damage to kacha houses besides partially paralyzing daily life in the area.
