Rawlapindi: Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB), Sanitation Department Staff concluded its two-week long cleanliness campaign here on Tuesday
In this context awareness walk was organized, which marked the end of campaign that was launched on October 23, aimed at removing garbage from residential and commercial areas falling in its jurisdiction. The Awareness Walk was led by RCB’s deputy Cantonment Executive Officer Seerat Asghar. Besides the RCB office bearers the walk was attended by Rashid Khan Malik Mansoor, Chief Sanitary Inspector Waris Bhati Sheikh Hafiz president traders association, Chairman Zakat Comittee Baw Arif and citizens from different walks of life. The participants were carrying placards and banners to promote cleanliness and hygiene.
Speaking on the occasion Seerat Asghar said that maintaining cleanliness in cant areas was our collective responsibility. Asghar also thanked the people for their cooperation in making it a success.
According to RCB spokesman Qaiser Mahmood, since the launch of the drive on October 23, the Sanitary department workers removed 6952 tons of garbage from residential and commercial areas falling in its jurisdiction. He said that during this period three awareness walks and two seminar were held whereas ten thousand pamphlets were distributed amongst the traders, motorists and residents.
On the other hand Food Branch officials of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) visited different areas and issued show cause notice to owners of different eateries/food outlets operating without licenses. According to a spokesman the food branch officials during their visit to Misriayal Road, Qasim Market, West Ridge and Sadr areas inspected 30 food points out of which 15 were issued notices for substandard cleanliness at work places and operating without licenses. The statement added that the inspection team collected 12 food samples from different eateries and sent them to laboratory for test.
Meanwhile, RCB’s Land and building control department officials during their visit to different areas have completed the process of marking encroachments at different places. According to the spokesman RCB’s enforcement team will be deputed soon to remove the encroachments from the areas.
