Islamabad: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued notices to news channels that aired controversial statement of PML-N leader Nehal Chaudhry against Pak Army on violation of rules and regulations.
In the statement issued by PEMRA, it has been said that why channels gave coverage to such a man who had already given controversial statements in the past against state institutions. Why should not an action be initiated against such channels that can result into imposition of fine or suspension of channels.
It is vital to mention here that Nehal Hashmi had criticised armed forces while defending politician’s role in country’s defence.
According to reports, Nehal Hashmi while addressing a seminar in Karachi Medical and Dental College alleged Armed forces that they did nothing for betterment and progress of country and arms and ammunition acquired for the Defence purpose is only a show piece.
Just after his statement aired on TV, PML-N announced its disassociation from his statements as senior leader of PML-N Rana Sana Ullah clarified that the statement of Nehal Hashmi is nothing to do with party policy. It was his personal opinion.
He said party membership of Nehal Hashmi had already been expelled from party, therefore, no action can be taken against him at party level against him.
He said everyone can differ with state institutions but that’s not the way to record a protest.
