Islamabad: (Parliament Times) Sardar Masood Khan, President Azad Jammu and Kashmir, has said that the government of AJK has its eyes set on providing the best medical and health facilities to its citizens and hope more professionals enter the field with an aim of providing quality service to the people.
The President made these remarks during a meeting with Dr. Bilquis Sajjad who called on the President at Jammu and Kashmir House here today. Dr Bilquis will be proceeding to the United Kingdom to attend the Innovation in Medicine Conference -2018 organized by the Royal College of Physicians. She will be representing Azad Kashmir at the international conference which will be attended by medical practitioners from all over the world.
The President said that it was a matter of great pride that Dr. Bilquis will represent Azad Jammu and Kashmir at the conference and urged her to utilise this opportunity in interacting with doctors from all over the world, especially from the developing countries in order to understand similar health challenges faced in such setups like combating posed by poor hygiene, lack of awareness, communicable and noncommunicable diseases.
The President reiterated the need for understanding and sharing modern ideas used in various countries to counter common issues like providing universal access to health, patient care, and community health practices.
President Masood Khan said that this conference will help stimulate innovative thinking in the implementation of modern medical practices and latest health practices including innovations in digital-health. He said that due to the difficult terrain of Azad Kashmir there is a need to encourage the use of telehealth and remote access health care systems in order to facilitate patients in remote areas.
