MUZAFFARABAD: The Saudi Fund for Development has accorded approval to a project for establishing a state of the art Laboratory in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir University costing 15 billion rupees.

According to university sources, high-status laboratory will further strengthen research based initiatives to enhance the quality of higher education in the state.

The proposal of establishing the state of the art laboratory was initially submitted by the Vice Chancellor AJK University Professor Dr. Kaleem Abbasi to the Higher Education Commission and same was forwarded to the Saudi Fund for Development for the sponsorship.

Saudi Arabia officials while recognizing the importance of the project agreed to fund Rs.15 billion for construction of the said laboratory.

Apart from this, 193 kanal lands has been acquired with the help of Azad Jammu and Kashmir government for the construction of campus and its proposal has been sent to the Government of Pakistan for the purpose of constructing a billion rupees for construction, which is in the final stages.

Vice Chancellor AJK University has played a key role in the development of the university in short period of time and launched mega development projects for raising the quality education in the liberated area.
