Karachi: Pasban e Pakistan here Tuesday submitted a fresh application against the Sindh Universities Amendment Bill 2018.

As per details, a double bench of Sindh High Court (SHC) comprised Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Agha Faisal heard the constitutional petition (2009/2018) of Pasban President Altaf Shakoor against the Sindh Universities Amendment Bill 2018 and instructed the Pasban lawyer Irfan Aziz Advocate that as now Sindh Universities Amendment Bill 2018 has already became an Act; therefore, a fresh application should be submitted against it.

On the order of the learned court, the lawyer submitted a fresh application against the Act. Later, talking to media outside the court premises, Altaf Shakoor said that this amendment act is an anti-varsity step of the government and it would harm 24 universities of Sindh. He said after damaging the primary and secondary education in Sindh, now the corruption mafia is bent to destroy university education. He said the Pasban is struggling to save the future of students of Sindh. Pasban lawyer Irfan Aziz Advocate said the Varsities Act is an interference of the rulers in higher educational institutions. He feard the rulers want to spread corruption after taking control of universities. He said no one would be allowed to play with the future of male and female students of 24 universities in Sindh. He said the Pasban is waging a legal battle to safeguard the interests of the universities of Sindh. The next hearing of the fresh application of Pasban is scheduled on May 15.
