“CDC approves 3 projects costing over Rs. 680 million”

MUZAFFARABAD: (Parliament Times) The Azad Jammu and Kashmir cabinet on Thursday approved amendments in Anti Terrorism and Human Organs and Tissues Transplantation law.

The cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan gave consent to amend the Anti Terrorism law by changing the procedure of the registration of Non-governmental organizations. Under the new law procedures of the registration of NGOs enforced at federal government level would be adopted in AJK.

The cabinet also decided to amend Human Organs and Tissues Transplantation law and proposed that person(s) involved in the illegal business of human organs and transplantation may be awarded punishment up to ten years imprisonment along with fine or both.

The cabinet reviewed a report about the rehabilitation of people affected by Indian shelling at LoC and financial compensation to the families of those who died due to Indian shelling from across the LoC.

The cabinet also approved up gradation of the post of Accounts Officer, Assistant Account Officers and Senior Auditors in accordance with the recent decision of Azad Jammu Kashmir high court.

Meanwhile Azad Jammu and Kashmir cabinet development committee has approved free development project of worth Rs 680 Million here on Thursday. The CDC meeting was attended by state minister, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary (General), Additional Chief Secretary (Development Secretary Finance and secretaries of the government.

The meeting accorded approval to the three projects relating to forest foreign aided project and development authorities. The schemes are related to construction of dike along the nulla of Basan Sharif in district Haveli and similar project along the Nulla Mahal at Banni Passari in district Bagh. The committee also approved funds to provide compensation to the land owners of Tariqabad Bypass Road.

The Cabinet was attended by Senior Minister, Chaudhry Tariq Farooq, Minister Power, Raja Nisar Ahmed Khan, Minister for Works and Communication, Chaudhry Muhammad Aziz, Finance Minister, Dr Najeen Naqi, Forest Minister, Sardar Mirakbar Khan, Minister Industries, Muthrama Noreen Arif, Minister Information, Mushtaq Minhas.

Minister Education, Barrister Iftikhar Ali Geelani, Minister Ravinue, Sardar Farooq Sikandar, Minister Food, Syed Shoukat Ali Shah, Minister Sports, Chaudhry Mhammad Saeed, Minister Auqaf, Raja Abdul Qayyum Khan, Minister Local Government, Raja Muhammad Naseer, Minister Law and Parliamentry Affairs, Chaudhry Javed Akhtar and Civil Defence Minister, Caudhry Masood Khalid

Speaking on the occasion Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan directed the department concern to utilize budget within specified time. He also directed the departments to frame transfers and promotion policies by insuring meetings of the concerned selection boards on time. Prime Minister Khan emphasized that absenteeism in education and health departments would not be tolerated. He said that AJK government will set the revenue targets in future instead of Kashmir council and further directed to observe financial discipline to slash non development expenditures in the state.

Meanwhile, Azad Jammu & Kashmir Cabinet Development Committee approved 3 projects costing over Rs. 680 million. The 8th meeting of the approving forum of AKCDC for the financial year 2017-18 was held on May 03, 2018 under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan. The meeting was attended by the Cabinet Members, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary (Dev.), Secretary Finance, representatives of the Federal Government, Secretaries of the respective line departments and officers of the P&DD, GoAJ&K. In the meeting 3 projects costing over PRs. 680 Million appertaining to Forestry, Foreign Aid and Development Authorities sectors were considered.

The significant projects that were brought under discussion include Support to Natural Regeneration in Demarcated Forests of AJ&K (Phase-II), Restoration of Flood Protection Structures along Basan Nullah at Basan Sharif in District Haveli and Nullah Mahl at Bani Pasari in District Bagh AJ&K under Disaster and Climate Resilience Improvement Project (DCRIP) and Payment of land compensation of Tariq Abad Bypass Road.
