ISLAMABAD : Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif said on Wednesday that preparations have already been started at Adiala Jail [Rawalpindi], wondering how they [jail admin] know that someone is coming.
The premier made the remarks while answering a reporter’s query inside the accountability court hearing the corruption cases against him and his family.
“The six-month deadline [to conclude the corruption cases] was not to conclude the trial but to give a sentence,” claimed the deposed premier.
In response to another question, Nawaz asserted that the people surrounding him at the moment are those who have been a part of the Pakistan Muslim League-N for generations.
Nawaz stated that he has discussed with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi the matter of making the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) ineffective during the term of the caretaker government so electoral candidates are not harassed by NAB.
In reply to a question over his stance on disgruntled party leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Nawaz said the people already know about him.
He held that Nawaz Sharif does not stoop to before any one therefore, baseless case has been framed against him for the sake of victimization. Our worst ever opponents were appointed in JIT which was constituted through whats app. JIT head Wajid Zia has acknowledged that there is no evidence regarding my salary, then what case is being run against me, he remarked. On what accusation I have been ousted from premiership is unfounded, he said adding this all is sheer a political vendetta. He went on to say JIT tried to conceal the facts with all cunningness which had gone in his favor but every thing has been exposed in trial court. Those included in JIT are the workers of our worst ever political rivals. He underlined that Wajid Zia will have to be accountable to the nation for affording financial benefit to his cousin by making payments to him through national kitty. Nawaz said his case was not of a terrorist case at all then why the representatives of ISI and MI were included in the investigation. The rivals are not tolerating me. Maryam Nawaz said judiciary is being used to defeat those who could not be defeated in political arena.
