ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed contempt of court petitions filed separately against Sharif brothers and other PML-N leaders.

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has remarked former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif talked all about JIT and record of anti judiciary speeches delivered by him is held by SC. We will see this matter at appropriate time.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by the CJP Mian Saqib Nisar Tuesday took up for hearing contempt of court petitions filed against Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif, Saad Rafiq, Daniyal Aziz, Niehal Hashmi, Capt (Retd) Safdar, other PML-N leaders and Javed Hashmi.

The petitions were filed by Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi.

The petitioner said during the course of hearing of the case against Nawaz Sharif that former PM Nawaz Sharif took out procession on GT road against the decision in Panama case. Nawaz Sharif while addressing the procession at different places criticized the judiciary which is contempt of court.

CJP remarked the record related to all the speeches delivered by Nawaz Sharif is available in SC. We will see it at appropriate time.

The petitioner said that he withdraws his petition.

The court dismissed the petition after its withdrawal by the petitioner.

During the course of hearing of the case against Saad Rafiq, the petitioner Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi advocate said Saad Rafiq has committed contempt of court in his different speeches after Panama case decision.

The CJP remarked apparently it did not seem to us a contempt of court. The judiciary should be impartial. We have taken the notice on the matters we were to take.

Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi said Nehal Hashmi also indulged in contempt of court.

Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan remarked Nehal Hashmi has been convicted in contempt of court case. Notice on contempt of court has been issued to him for the second time.

The court rejected all the contempt of court petitions filed by Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi against, Nawaz Sharif, Javed Hashmi and other PML-N leaders.
