MIRPUR: Paying rich and glowing tributes to veterans of Kashmir freedom struggle – Shaheed Muhammad Maqbool Bhat and Shaheed Mohammad Afzal Guru on their martyrdom anniversaries, Jammu Kashmir National Front here Wednesday said that people of Kashmir owe a lot to martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of freedom.
Talking to newsmen here a spokesperson of the Jammu Kashmir National Front strongly demanded the return of the mortal remains of both Shaheed Maqbool Bhat and Shaheed Afzal Guru who were hanged in the Tihar jail, Delhi in 1984 and 2013 respectively.
“The National Front said in a statement that hanging of Maqbool Bhat and Afzal Guru has not deterred Kashmiris for demanding their birth right”, the spokesperson said.
He said “Time has proved that Kashmir has produced hundreds of Maqbools and Gurus despite Indian oppression and suppression”.
The National Front reiterated that the struggle for freedom shall continue till the dawn of freedom and the sacrifices of martyrs like Shaheed Maqbool Bhat and Shaheed Afzal Guru shall be protected at any cost, the JKNF spokesperson added.
