Islamabad: (Parliament Times) National History and Literary Heritage Division has helped in installation of the State of Art new Computerized Braille Printing Machine to National Book Foundation (NBF)for the persons of the visual impairment. For this purpose, the inauguration ceremony was held at NBF Braille Complex Building in Karachi.

Mr. Irfan Siddiqui, Advisor to Prime Minister on National History & Literary Heritage expressed his views at this auspicious occasion and he said that promotion of book culture, studying books and books oriented activities are our main aims. He said that today we had gathered here for the noble cause of giving modern Braille Printing Machine to NBF. He said that the new Computerized Braille Printing Machine, continuous planning and preparation has been made in the lasttwo years. “Therefore, we have put our best efforts to geta State of the Art new Computerized Braille Printing Machine for the persons of the visual impairment,” he said.Advisor to Prime Minister on National History & Literary Heritage added that the new Braille Printing Machine will be proved a revolutionary initiative to update the rapid movement as well as quality of the Braille Box Publication of the National Book Foundation.

Engineer Amir Hassan, Secretary National History and Literature Heritage Division expressed his views in the ceremony and he said that The National Book Foundation has been working vigorously in connection with Braille Boxes, publishing books and The Holy Qur’an for hundreds of thousands of blind people. He said new Braille Printing Machine would enhance capacity of printing of Braille books in a short span of time. He said that it will defiantly increase the publications and improve the performance of NBF many fold.

At this occasion, Managing Director NBF, Dr. Inam-ulHaqJaveid presented performance report of National Book Foundation especially for the last four years. He said that NBF has launched a number of book culture oriented schemesin the country. He stated that projects are included Readers Book Club Scheme and particularly Braille Box and through it, NBF has been printing number of books for people with disabilities since 1981. He further said that following this successful story,the Modern Computerized Printing Machine given by the Division is now a milestone in the journey of the NBF’s Braille Box’s post and it would certainly prove to be perfect for people with disabilities. Renowned educationist and poet Peer Zada Qasim, writer Mobin Mirza and secritary Pakistan Bling Association Amir Ashraf also spook and appreciated the efforts of NBF for book promotion. The large number of writers, scholars and people from all walks of life attended this ceremony. The senior Journalist and prominent writer, Mr. HanifAbid conducted this event in a befitting manner.
