MIRPUR (AJK):(Parliament Times)Azad Jammu & Kashmir High Court Friday suspended the recent AJK governmental orders of the inductions of the political activists belonging to the ruling PML (N), AJK Chapter, as administrators of the civic institutions across Azad Jammu Kashmir.
Single bench of the AJK HC comprising Chief Justice Mr. Justic M. Tabassam Aftab Alvi has fixed February 2, 2018 as next date of hearing of the case.
Azad Jammu & Kashmir High Court had, on a petition, filed by the AJK government, seeking further extension in the date for announcement of the schedule for holding of the local bodies elections in Azad Jammu Kashmir, had directed the AJK government to announce the schedule for holding of the civic polls in AJK by January 18 this year. But the AJK government failed to do so despite the categorical instructions by the learned AJK High Court.
In the same connection, on an application filed by PTI AJK Chapter’s Central Vice President and ex AJK minister Khawaja Farooq Ahmed for initiation of contempt of court proceeding against AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Hamider Khan, Chief Secretary AJK, Secretary Local government AJK and other concerned officials, the AJK High Court reportedly issued show cause notices to the Prime Minister Farooq Haider and other concerned to show the cause why the contempt of court proceeding not be initiated against them.
Earlier, the AJK HC had, on an application filed by the AJK government, given extension for announcement of the schedule for holding of the civic polls by October 30, 2017 but the government failed in doing so.
On hearing of the case on January 3, this year on a petition filed by the AJK government for grant of further extension in announcement of the schedule for holding of the civic polls, the AJK HC had directed the government, through Secretary Local government AJK, to announce the schedule of the holding of the polls by January 18, 2018, but the government failed in doing so.
Ultimately, the AJK HC Friday issued orders suspending the recent orders of the government about the recent appointment of the political workers belonging to the ruling (PML-N) party as administrators of the civic institutions in AJK.
