Islamabad: (Parlialment Times) Country’s youth is not only our precious asset but provides leadership to the country. Honorable Justice Javed Iqbal, Chairman NAB while addressing the delegation of National Leadership Program of Sindh Madressat-ul- Islam University (SMIU) Karachi led by Vice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Ali Sheikh, comprising faculty members and students called on Honorable Justice Mr. Javed Iqbal, Chairman NAB at NAB Headquarters. Chairmen said getting education in Sindh Madrassah tul Islam was a source of pride and educate the student to work diligently.

The youth had played leading role in Pakistan movement under the leadership of Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Honorable Justice Mr. Javed Iqbal, said that Sindh Madressa- tul- Islam University Karachi is one of the oldest institutions in South Asia and has the distinction of being the Alma Matter of founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Therefore he was delighted to receive the delegation. He reiterated that mission of Sindh Madressa tul Islam University (SMIU) is to create excellent environment for education, research and learning in order to produce outstanding leaders who are pro-active, truthful, honest, brave and believe in self-accountability.

He said that institutions like Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) are the torch bearers in the quest to impart such education to young generation who can steer Pakistan out from corruption. He said that our father of the nation Quaid-e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in his address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan had termed “One of the biggest curses were bribery and corruption. That really is a poison. We must put it down with an iron hand”. NAB is committed to eradicate corruption by adopting Zero Tolerance Policy across the board.

He said that youth is future of our country. Corruption is cancer which is the root cause of every evil. Corruption has become one of the greatest challenges of the modern era. He said youth are the ones who can be most effective in taking the anti-corruption message to their homes, to their streets, to their localities and create the desired disdain against corruption. The nation belongs to its youth. You are the leaders of tomorrow. What you do today will reflect in the society tomorrow. If we all come forward to build a corruption free society than our dream of a strong Pakistan is not far away.

Chairman NAB said that Corruption gives birth to multifarious problems including nepotism, favoritism and negating meritocracy, transparency and accountability. He emphasized that NAB is determined to eradicate corruption from Pakistan. For this every member of society has to make an effort by setting personal, professional and official conduct above any type of influence and prejudice. Parents have to teach their children how abhorrent and detestable corruption is. The intelligentsia, the academia and media have to sensitize the people about the ill effects of corruption on our society and economy. And nobody can play this role better than the youth. He said that NAB believes in zero tolerance policy towards corruption; let’s “Say No to Corruption” and break the corruption chain. Corruption couldn’t be overcome without making self accountability as our prime objective.

He said that to create awareness against the ill effects of corruption among the youth of Pakistan, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in collaboration with Higher Education Commission (HEC) has established over 55, 000 Character Building Societies (CBSs) in universities, colleges and schools in the country to create awareness against corruption as youths are considered a vanguard in this fight. The societies have been mandated to disseminate the worst consequences of corruption in the society. The positive effects of such societies are pouring in.

He said that NAB has established its first Forensic Science Lab (FSL) in NAB Rawalpindi/Islamabad. The Forensic Science Lab has facilities of Digital Forensics, Questioned Documents and Fingerprint Analysis. He said that Pakistan is the only country whose CPI index decreased from 126 to 116 which was a great achievement. He said that NAB is committed to eradicate corruption from the country by adopting Zero Tolerance Policy for corruption free Pakistan. He said that NAB’s Anti-corruption campaign is carried widely for awareness and prevention of corruption during 2017 which will continue in 2018 due to its effectiveness. He said NAB’s working has been acknowledged and appreciated by renowned national and international organizations including Transparency International, World Economic Forum and PILDAT has lauded NAB in their reports.

The Chairman NAB reiterated that mission of Sindh Madressa-tul-Islam University (SMIU) Karachi is to create excellent environment for education, research and learning in order to produce outstanding leaders who are pro-active, truthful, honest, brave and believe in self-accountability. He said that institutions like Sindh Madressa–tul- Islam University (SMIU) Karachi are the torch bearers in the quest to impart such education to young generation who can lift Pakistan out of corruption. He emphasized that NAB is determined to eradicate corruption from Pakistan. He said the country is indebted to $84 billion. It’s responsibility of everyone to contribute in eliminating corruption. He himself listen people’s complaint on last Thursday of every month. Now regional bureaus have been directed to emulate and resolve people’s complaints.

At the end, Chairman NAB answered about one and half hour the questions of students in a very comprehensive and professional manner with patience which was appreciated by all the students of the commitment and determination of Chairman NAB to eradicate corruption from the country.
