ISLAMABAD: Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said he personally holds former president Pervez Musharraf responsible for assassination of Benazir Bhutto;
In an interview with BBC Bilawal said Pervez Musharraf while capitalizing on the situation got murdered his mother Benazir Bhutto.
“I don’t think the young boy who had attacked his mother on December 27, 2007 evening in Rawalpindi is killer of his mother. Musharraf while taking mileage out of the situation got killed my mother. The terrorist may have opened fire but Musharraf removed security cordon of my mother deliberately so that she could be removed from the scene”, he underlined.
According to Bilawal, Musharraf gave direct threat to Benazir Bhutto that guarantee of her security is linked to her cooperation with him (Musharraf). Musharraf removed the security of Benazir Bhutto on the day she was targeted. The security cordon around her was also removed on the first day of attack.
He held “ I don’t believe in such coincidences.
When asked that the public opinion polls tell that several Pakistanis consider his father killer of Benazir Bhutto, he said this is tantamount to declare the oppressed as oppressor. The facts are being concealed in the incident of murder of my mother and a special impression is being created through media to save Musharraf.
Pervez Musharraf did so in the system of Pakistan with whose assistance. To this question Bilawal said that he does not know precisely who helped him in this murder. I personally hold him responsible for this murder. I have no such details that either he gave directives to some one by telephone or he sent message to some one through secret codes. Therefore, I will not go for placing any blame on some people or institutions.
He also criticised the court for acquitting those involved in assassination of Benazir Bhutto.; The court ignored UN investigation into this murder case. The court overlooked government investigation. It ignored phone calls recording and the evidence received from DNA. Therefore, I say this judgment made mockery of justice.
He said that he was of view that those who had confessed the crime before the court would be made scapegoat to save Musharraf and they would be convicted and sentenced. But it did not happen so. They gave clean chit to terrorists. They convicted those police personnel who had washed crime scene. On the other hand they granted bail to them;. Now they have returned to their duty. Musharraf who should have been convicted in absentia because his lawyers were representing him in the case was declared absconder while he was to be punished. This is insult to justice and is tantamount to make mockery of justice. This is shameful, he added.
