“Says Islam spread through dialogue, diplomacy and engagement not by force”

Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan has said that the teachings and practices of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) are a great example for the whole of humanity.

The AJK President made these remarks while addressing the participants of the National Seerat Conference organized by the Religious Affairs and Auqaf Department of Azad Kashmir. The conference was also attended by the Syed Nazir ul Hassan Gillani, Secretary Religious Affairs and Auqaf and Prof. Dr. Zafarullah Baig, former Dean of Islamic Studies at the International Islamic University Islamabad.

President Masood Khan said that Allah SWT through his last Prophet (PBUH) blessed us with a complete religion which encompasses all the aspects of our life. He added that the life of the Prophet (PBUH) is a guiding principle for all of humanity.

“It is our belief that our salvation lies only in leading our lives according to practices of the last Prophet (PBUH)”, the AJK President said.

The Prophet (PBUH), said the President, was a statesman par excellence and established the first Islamic State, wherein he (PBUH) defined the roles, duties and responsibilities towards each subject of the state. Prophet (PBUH) prescribed the rights of women, minorities and orphans which are valid today and shall be valid till the end of time.

President Masood Khan said that the international laws and conventions that exist today have been taught to us by the Holy Prophet (PBUH) over 1400 years ago. “As the greatest military commander, Prophet (PBUH) taught us the duties of combatants, rights of prisoners and protection of property during war”, he maintained.

President AJK while addressing the participants said that Islam was never spread through the use of force but through dialogue, diplomacy and engagement which were adopted from the teachings of our Holy Prophet (PBUH).

“Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was sent onto this world as Khatim-al-Nebiyyin (Seal of the Prophets) and Afzal-ul- Rasool(best of Prophets) for he was the greatest statesman, an outstanding jurist, a glorious military commander, a humble family man and he presented a just economic system for his followers”, said President Masood Khan.

He said that globally Muslims are facing political, social and sectarian hurdles, which can only be addressed if we fully imbibe the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The Prophet’s (PBUH) preached tolerance, love, patience and most important the respect for our fellow human.

The President said that over 2 billion Muslims today have been ostracized by the west due to Islamophobia and hate speech by the media. The President urged that we as Muslims must unite and waive off our ideological and sectarian differences in order to present the true picture of Islam as taught by our Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

President Masood said that today in Indian Occupied Kashmir our brothers and sisters are in shackles and are facing the atrocities of the Indian Occupation forces. Everyday our Kashmiri brethren are sacrificing their lives for their freedom and their just right to self-determination, he said. The President emphasized the need to unify our ranks, use modern and conventional media, engage with the diaspora community and effectively persuade the United Nations to implement its resolution for an amicable settlement to the conflict.

The President strongly condemned the decision by President Trump in declaring Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and moving the US Embassy to the holy city. He added that these are very testing times for the Islamic world and we as a community must display our unity in raising our voice against this impulsive decision.

President Masood Khan also commended the efforts of Secretary Religious Affairs and Auqaf Syed Nazir ul Hassan Gillani for organizing such events which he said is a great effort in promoting inter-faith and inter-sect harmony among the masses.
