Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) Terming PPP as a formidable political force of the country the president of Pakistan Peoples Party (Kashmir Chapter) Ch. Latif Akbar has said that the PPP was formed by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto 50 years back with the sole purpose to eliminate poverty and to serve economically down-trodden masses of the country.
Addressing golden jubilee function of the party here on Thursday Akbar said that history bears testimony to the fact that the party leaders struggled hard and did not let the party flag go down despite facing many hardships. Terming PPP as the representative of the peoples’ sentiments he expressed the oprimism that the party under the dynamic leadership of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will emerge victorious in 2018 elections. In a veiled reference to PML-N leadership he said that today people flee away from country by striking deals and tendering apologies but the PPP founder (ZAB) kissed the gallows for the larger interests of the common masses.
“We had forewarned PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif not try to buy the conscience of AJK people”, Akbar said adding that Sharif did it and was now facing the penalty. He said that thousands of PPP workers from AJK will participate in the upcoming party rally scheduled to be held on 5th December in Islamabad.
Speaking on the occasion PPP leaders reiterated their pledge to continue their struggle in the light of PPP founder’s vision to ensure a strong, stable and prosperous Pakistan. They vowed to fight for the supremacy of constitution and democracy, elimination of terrorism and extremism from the country.
Earlier, the PPP president Ch. Latif Akbar cut a cake to mark the golden jubilee celebrations of the party. The other PPP leaders including Sardar Javed Ayoub, Ziaul Qamar, Younis Mir, Shoukat Javed Mir, Bazil Naqvi and others were present at the cake cutting ceremony
Meanwhile, the AJK Peoples’ Youth Organization (PYO), a student wing of PPP led by Sardar Zia-ul-Qamar, has kick started a public contact campaign to mobilize party activists all across the liberated territory (Azad Kashmir). Besides holding corner meetings, PYO is set to organize rallies and meetings at all district and Tehsil headquarters, which would be attended by senior leaders and activists of the party. Moreover, the PYO leadership has planned to establish reception camps at different places in the twin cities Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
