ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Ahsan Iqbal has said a 2,000-strong anti-riots police force will be raised to maintain peace in the federal capital in any eventuality.

He was speaking during his visit to the centre of Counter-Terrorism Force at Police Lines in Islamabad on Wednesday.

The Minister said foolproof security will be ensured to residents of Islamabad.

He said the Counter-Terrorism Force was established in the backdrop of terrorist attack on Army Public School in Peshawar. The personnel of this force have received training from Pakistan Army and they are capable enough to tackle the challenge of terrorism effectively.

Ahsan Iqbal said women are also part of the new force and said women are contributing towards elimination of the menace of terrorism.

He said fulfledged operations were launched against terrorism across the country and as a consequence today, peace has been attained in Balochistan and Karachi. Effective operations have also been carried out in FATA to root out terrorism from the area.

Ahsan Iqbal said back of terrorists has been broken to a great extent because of these operations.

He said only state can declare and carry out Jehad in an Islamic country.

The Minister said our enemy is using all tactics against Pakistan and we will have to excell in our professionalism to counter this threat.
