Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued contempt of court notice to interior minister Ahsan Iqbal in religious parties’ sit-in case.
IHC judge justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui took up the case for hearing on Friday.
During the course of hearing, chief commissioner Islamabad took the plea that government has stopped them from taking any action regarding sit-in adding interior minister himself said before court that he stopped administration from taking any action against protestors so that talks process could continue.
Court while expressing resentment over government and administration over their failure in ending sit in remarked, “This is an attempt to let down the orders of court”.
Learned judge remarked, “It is beyond comprehension how can a federal minister or even a prime minister go against court orders”.
Court questioned, “Under what authority interior minister stopped administration from taking action despite court’s orders”.
Secretary interior said if government goes for use of force more than scale of requirement then there will be huge bloodshed, however, state would use full force where need arises. We are doing everything while keeping in view the state interest.
Secretary said he could not explain some things here, however if court summons him in the chamber then he would tell the court in writing .
Court issued contempt of court notice to interior minister and remarked, “It is the responsibility of intelligence agencies to dispel impression that agencies are behind this sit-in. Court ordered that Raja Zafar ul Haq report which was earlier summoned on November 29 should now be filed on November 27 .
Court further remarked that this report should not be made public before it is presented in the court and the people who were nominated in this report should be barred from going abroad.
Court has summoned Director General Intelligence Bureau, Inter Services Intelligence agencies sector commander on next hearing and adjourned the hearing till November 27.
