Islamabad: Ministry for Religious Affairs turned down request of National Assembly’s standing committee for religious affairs regarding members’ visit to Holy Prophet’s (P.B.U.H) shrine on government expenditure on the eve of 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal.
The Ministry imposed conditionality of Prime Minister’s approval and release of funds by Finance Ministry on the issue.
Online learnt that Chairperson of the committee, Shagufta Jummani and other members demanded to visit the Holy site on Ministry for Religious Affairs’ expenditures, directing the ministry to contact Saudi embassy immediately for visas.
In response, the ministry said that it neither has any right to send members there on government expenses nor it has funds, though, the process can be started after approval from the PM.
Likewise, last year, on the same occasion, committee members had written letters to Saudi embassy for visas but embassy did not issue visas.
