“Says Pakistan has always stressed the need for resolving Kashmir dispute through talks and is open for mediation on Kashmir; will continue political, moral and diplomatic support to Kashmiris in their just struggle; terms India as usurper”

Islamabad: (Parliament times) Terming Kashmir as an unfinished agenda of partition plan, the federal minister for Kashmir Affairs Ch. Birjees Tahir has said that India, under a deep rooted conspiracy, occupied the Muslim majority state thereby usurping the fundamental rights of the people of Kashmir.
The federal minister made these assertions while addressing a press conference here on Thursday. He said that under the Radcliff Award Muslim majority states were supposed to join Pakistan whereas Hindu dominated areas would accede to the Indian dominion but India under a well thought out conspiracy occupied the Muslim Majority state of Jammu and Kashmir illegally against the aspirations of Kashmir people. Later on, he said, when people of Kashmir raised the revolt against the illegal occupation Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru took the case to the UN. The UN he said adopted a historic resolution granting right to self-determination to the people of Kashmir. He said that it was unfortunate that despite the passage of seven decades people of Kashmir were still awaiting for the implementation of these resolutions.

Referring to the international community’s apathy and indifference towards Kashmir issue and Kashmiris’ sufferings Tahir said that the plebiscite was held in South Sudan and East Timor under the UN auspicious but no efforts were made to resolve this lingering dispute that happens to be the bone of contention in the region. He said that Kashmiris over the past several years have offered huge sacrifices to achieve the long cherished goal.

He said that Kashmiris observe 27 October as black day to convey the message to the international community that India has occupied Jammu and Kashmir against their will and is denying them their inalienable right to self-determination.

He said that Pakistan wants a peaceful settlement of Kashmir dispute in line with the UN resolutions. “Pakistan, India and Kashmiris are the main stake holders to the dispute”, he said. Denouncing Indian state terrorism in IHK, the PML-N leader said that India was blinding Kashmiris by using pellet guns. Lauding the sacrifices of Kashmir people he said that the day was not far when people of Kashmir would achieve their right to self-determination guaranteed to them by the international community. He said that Pakistan will continue its all out political, moral and diplomatic support to Kashmiris in their just struggle. He said that Pakistan has vociferously raised the voice in favour of Kashmiris at all international forums.
Ch. Birjees Tahir also condemned in strong terms the India’s naked aggression on the line of control saying that Indian army violated the ceasefire line for 1150 times during 2017. As a result of unprovoked firing, he said, more than 50 people lost their lives. He said that Pakistan has always stressed the need for resolving Kashmir dispute through talks. “Even Pakistan is ready to accept the mediation offer on Kashmir”, he added.
