Muzaffarabad: Neelum Jehlum Hydropower Project spokeswoman said in his statement that it is said to the people we are drying the river for filling the lake. In this regard, it is clear that the river water will not be completely closed anyway. Under the agreement with the Azad Kashmir government, at least 530 cusecs water will be available in the river, as the flow of river in the summer season will remain usual and the flow of water in the river will be up to an average of 18000 cusecs. In addition, it is also clarified that initially only 425 cusecs water will be stopped by January 2018, and more than that, approximately 1800 cusecs will flow in the river.
Therefore, the concerns aroused in this regard are not correct. Apart from this, some elements are spreading the rumors that due to lack of water, water supply schemes, especially the Makari Water Supply Scheme and will face water crisis in Muzaffarabad city. There is no any possibility to get such a problem immediately, because in current conditions, 1800 cusecs water will flow in the river and there will be no shortage of water in the summer.
It should be clear that only 35 cusecs of water is the total requirement for the Makri Water Supply Scheme. It is also clarified in this regard that the WAPDA and Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Company has already allocated to Rs 500 million for the possible effects of Makri Water Supply Scheme, and the concerned departments of Government of Azad Government have to work on it
